DALi’S eGg
Music by Nicholas Chase, Libretto by Ann Haroun and Sherrie Flick and Film by Randall Wakerlin.
DALi’S eGg is an inter-media performance work that explores the connection between interactive sound and music, audio/visual relationships and story telling.
October 15, 2005, Nicholas Chase and Company will preview the first stages of their inter-media work DALi’S eGg as part of the CalArts/Barnsdall Art Park presentation "Half Hour from Home: CalArts Alumni at Barnsdall." This performance will showcase new video from award-winning animator Randall Wakerlin, text performed by Pacific Northwest author Ann Haroun and a live, surround-sound musical experience by Los Angeles composer Nicholas Chase.
The Los Angeles Times writes of Chase's rave opera e1>3ktr=A, "...the wackiest show of the year" and the LA Weekly writes of Haroun and Chase's collaboration 22 (Taker of the Total Chance), commissioned by the Long Beach Opera, "...the human brain at its most imaginative." DALi’S eGg is a continuation and expansion of that collaborative relationship, drawing in artists from across the United States, including Flume Press award-winning author of I Call This Flirting, Sherrie Flick (Pittsburgh, PA), and nationally reputed visual artist Steven Brown (Detroit, MI). Slated to premiere in 2007, DALi’S eGg will bring text, video, music and set into a unified story-telling experience, exploring the narrative form through interactive surround-sound electronics, DJ turntables, improvisational performance, live musical-narration, and animated film.
